August 2017

1920s-40s era quilt
Fifteen members were present for the August TAGY meeting. Everyone introduced themselves and had Show & Tell.  Jan Wilbur showed her family's 1860s quilt, and 1920s  era quilts.

Four members showed "Wild West" challenge quilts which will be shown at the Yellowstone Quilt Fest September 7-9 at the Cody Auditorium.  Several other members said they are still working on theirs.

Ginger announced that "A Place in Someone's Heart" quilt exhibit is now on display at the 1st Bank of Wyoming, Powell branch.  Please stop in and leave your comments.  The display is very colorful and appealing.  The bank will also host our
"Wild West" challenge quilts in January.  The Powell Tribune is interested in doing an article about the "Someone's Heart" quilts and Jeanne K will talk with them about this.

Linda handed out Yellowstone Quilt Fest (YQF) entry forms and Save the Date info.  She said the "Heart" quilts and "Wild West" quilts will hang on the stage at the quilt show.  You may also enter any other quilts you want to show.  Registration forms must be received by August 29th.
Get your entry forms at the Yellowstone Quilt Fest website.  Please include a short Artist's Statement with your quilts.

In addition, the YQF quilt show will include a Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) trunk show exhibit at the quilt show. SAQA Regional Director, Carol Kimble, will bring the trunk show from Montana. You don't want to miss these beautiful art quilts from  SAQA members around the world.

Jan Hoar presented a fun program on dyeing fabric with shaving cream.

Kenli tried her hand at dyeing with shaving cream also. See the final two photos for Kenli's creation on a white-on-white fabric.
