February 6, 2023

Eighteen talented members of TAGY attended the February 6, 2023, meeting at the Cody Library, Grizzly Room:  Jan W., Jan H., Carra, Vanda, Sylvie, Laurie, Kim, Sue B., Marybeth, Darlene, Kris, Susie, Barb M., Laura, Lili, Ben, Jeanne, Mary.

Challenge due at March meeting:  Work on the Junk Journal that Jeannie taught us to make today.

Challenge also due at March meeting:  February is National Embroidery Month.  Embroider something and bring it to the meeting.

Annual Challenge:  The theme is "Pare/Pair/Pear." The quilt should be no larger than 100-inch perimeter. Irregular shapes are encouraged.

Program for March:  Jan H. and Alice will provide a lesson in circular weaving.  Jan took orders for wooden circular looms.  A bamboo embroidery hoop also works.  If you missed putting in your order, you can order from:  Thin Round Weaving Looms / Circle Looms / Wood Hoops With - Etsy  The 6" seems popular. Wooden circular looms are reusable.  Embroidery hoops are not.

TAGY Coffee Sponsorship for Pardners Cafe:  Those who would like to contribute to sponsoring a week of coffee/tea at the Pardners Cafe at the library (where many of us eat lunch prior to the meeting) should give their money to Jan W.  A week of sponsorship is $125 and TAGY will see their name on the "billboard" above the coffee bar.

THINK:  About volunteering to present a program!

THINK:  About a theme for our Christmas Party!

Show and Tell AND Red Heart/Red Challenge:

Barb M.'s beautiful heart quilt!  Her first attempt with her long-arm machine!  Bravo!

Sue B. was given this Dresden Plate quilt, circa 1940's.  It is hand stitched.  She is wondering what to do with it.  Many ideas were shared.

Karling showed her sister's quilt.

And Karling's sister's second quilt.  She says there is something uneven about it!

Vanda showed lace fairies she made for her granddaughter.  Very dainty!

Marybeth showed some journals she made.

Susie showed a Cardinal she made:  Thyme for her mother and cherries for her father.

Susie also made an apron from her father's shirt.  Very clever!!

Carra modeled the very soft hat she knit.

Lili had hearts to show.  So pretty.

Ben had a journal.

And a very special heart from a friend...

This is Alice's spool creation.  Lots of hearts and love!

And Mary had a heart to show...

Jan W. practiced on her embroidery unit as well! Kitchen stoles.
