HAPPY NEW YEAR !
We started the new year off with our Christmas Tea, which was delayed because of severe weather in December. While the snow is still on the ground, we had chinook winds which brought the temperatures up to near 50 degrees for our January 9th meeting. This was very welcome after two weeks of below zero weather in the area.
Thirteen members and two guests were present and all brought delicious treats and a wide variety of teas to taste. The gift exchange included many tea related and hand-made items. The talent of this group continues to amaze. Each gift is a treasure (the photos don't do them justice).
There were also some beautiful items displayed for Show & Tell.
Jeanne reminded us of our 2016 challenge "A Place in Someone's Heart" due at our March meeting. See the link to the challenge descriptions on the right of this blog. The 2017 challenge is Wild West and it is due August 7th, in time to display at the Yellowstone Quilt Fest (YQF). Both are to be 18" x 24" in either portrait or landscape orientation.
Our TAGY group has been invited to show our work at the Big Sky Quilt Retreat in Billings, MT, which is held March 8-11th. We have the entire stage to showcase our textile art, so we hope everyone will participate and fill that area. This Retreat and Quilt Show is held every 2 years, so we can show everything we made since the last show (or that wasn't shown there before). This includes our monthly learning challenges as well as large quilts and wall hangings. In addition to the quilt show, this retreat offers many interesting classes. Click here for more info.
Another opportunity to show our work is at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum in Golden, CO. They are having a "Quilting the Wild West/Wild Bill Cody" challenge. Since our group meets in Cody, I am hoping some of our members will participate in this challenge. Some of our past challenges are the correct size to enter into this juried show, but they want items made after January 1, 2015. Photos must be submitted by February 28th. For more info click here.
Thank you ladies for a fun Tea Time!
