September 2021

Twenty members and guests were present for the September TAGY meeting at the Cody Library Grizzly Room.  The Challenge Quilts for 2020 and 2021 were returned to members after their month-long showing at the First Bank of Wyoming in Powell.  Jan announced their next showing will be in May of 2022.

A Challenge theme was discussed for 2022. Jeanne kept a list of suggestions and we will vote on them at the October meeting.

Our Christmas Exchange will be held in January, with a theme of “Winter”.  Members were reminded that gifts are voluntary - bring a gift, receive a gift.  All must be hand-made.

Show and Tell was amazing, with members showing both the returned Challenge Quilts, and other items they have made recently, including the monthly challenge beginning with “Q”.  Next month is the letter “Z”.

Several members discussed the Cody Animal Shelter’s up-coming On-Line Auction, and the need for items such as dog beds, cat caves, etc.

Pam provided a fun Program on Lines and Doodles in which we all doodled on a paper, then passed it on several times with each additional person adding doodles.  Then the original was returned to its owner.  Each person was asked to “frame” a small section of the doodle page, and redraw a close-up of just that section on a second page. Pam explained this is the method she used on a small abstract quilt she showed.

Since I didn't have a camera with me, I found pics on-line which may help visualize what can be done with doodle art.

To the left is a close-up of a section of the zebra's face.
From a large drawing or photo, you can isolate or "frame" just a small image, and use that part for your art.
