April 2013

Patty's hand-dyes
Seventeen members participated in the April 1st meeting (no April Fools here).
Jeanne went over the Old Trail Town's form for taking photos there, and we all signed it.  It was decided that we will pay the individual gate fees as a token of our appreciation of their coming to open the Town and cabins for our photograph day.  The May meeting will be held at Trail Town, so remember to bring your cameras and extra batteries.

Our Old Trail Town Challenge will be to make an art piece from one of our own photos.  The piece will be 24" x 18", horizontal orientation.  It will be hung on our black drapes (that now have our Book Challenge).  The Challenge will be due at the February 2014 meeting.  They will then be available for display at Cody Country Art League in March.  Other venues will be determined and may include: at Old Trail Town itself; Yellowstone Quilt Fest; at local banks; and the Mancuso Denver National Quilt Show.

Alice presented a great program which included applying a sheer binding using a burning tool and making a quick magazine collage (see photos).
In addition, she very generously provided all the supplies to make our own fabric sketchbooks as well.
This was a take-home project, so next month we will have our sketchbooks for Show & Tell.  Thanks Alice, this was fun.
