October 2014

October was a busy month and several members were unable to attend the TAGY meeting.  However, Alice gave a great program for those who were there:  Lili, Kathy H, Jane, Jeanette,  Diana, Ginger, Carling  and Alice.

Carling shared a beautiful quilt panel all made from scraps that was almost finished.
Ginger and Alice shared their October “Trash” Challenges. Ginger did a dumpster scene complete with graffiti and up-cycled trash items. Alice made a collage with the paper from used tea bags which she drew on with markers and colored pencils and stitched to a square from a salvaged quilt.

We talked about the Breast Pocket article in Quilting Arts magazine and shared touching stories and sweet memories of friends who had battled breast cancer and also family members with dementia. Kathy H plans to send her pockets to four friends. We discussed some options for the other finished pockets  but nothing definite was decided. Most of us still had some details to add and plan to bring them back next month.  So it's not too late for the other TAGY  members to join in and make pockets too.  Photos show some of the breast pockets make during the meeting.

It was a nice day of sewing and creating and sharing.
