October 2018

Fifteen members and guests attended the October 1st TAGY meeting.  A calendar was passed around the members signed up to provide programs for next year.  This is published at the right on the blog.

Jan H mentioned her work supporting the Animal Shelter and their upcoming event.  Donations of dog treats, blankets, etc. are requested for their fundraiser.

Ginger had tickets for the Taste of the Town event sponsored by CASA.  She also mentioned our "Marketplace" quilts are on display at the Bank of the West in Cody this month.

Alice showed her work on a fish made with fusing-backed scraps.  This will go on a quilt she is making.

Ben likes to work with paper and she brought a couple of beautiful seasonal cards she made recently.

Jan W showed a photo of the breast cancer quilt aka "Flip-flops" she made for a group in Florida, and she is selling tickets as a fund raiser to win this quilt.

Jan W also showed the advent calendar shown here.  Each house has pockets to hold the treats. This is from a panel available at Friends and Company in Cody.

Linda M brought Marybeth's "cuadros" or little quilt she purchased at the opening reception of "Picturing Paradise", an exhibit at NW College in Powell.
These beautiful quilts were made by women living in the shanty towns outside of Lima, Peru, and depict their hopes and dreams.  This exhibit can be viewed at the SinClair Gallery, in the Orendorff Building  on 6th Street from 8am to 5pm daily through Monday, Oct 15.

Zann brought several recently made items for Show & Tell, including a garden apron, mug rugs, and a glasses case.

PROGRAM:

An excellent program on Binding was given by Jan Wilbur.
Jan is an expert on attaching bindings to finished quilts and she shared her secrets with the group, and provided a step-by-step handout.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this month's meeting.  Next month Colleen will show us how to do Hawaiian applique.  The color of the month is Orange.
