Aug 2019

Sixteen members were present at the August TAGY meeting.
Karling announced she was at the August opening of the ArtConnect gallery's "The Fiber of Art" in Laramie, and she shared photos of some of the art quilts submitted by TAGY members.  She says fiber art is welcome at all their exhibits which change monthly.

Barbara Pike requested help with hanging quilts at the upcoming Yellowstone Quilt Fest on Sept 12-14.
TAGY's  "Doors Challenge" entries do not need entry forms & fees as they will be an exhibit on the stage, and will not be judged.  Other quilts you wish to show will require entry forms and fees.  Entry forms are available on-line at: https://www.yellowstonequiltfest.info/YQF/index.html
You are encouraged to enter your other art-quilts into the judged categories.  The more entries, the better the quilt show.

Barbara also reminded everyone that sign-up sheets to enter quilts are due August 27th.  Quilts must then be delivered to the Cody Auditorium on Tuesday, September 10th from noon to 3 pm.  Linda M took home several "Doors Challenge" quilts that were shown at the meeting for those who may be out of town on Sept 10th.

Linda will also type up the Artist's Statements about the Doors Challenge quilts which will hang with each quilt.  Please email your artist's statements to her at lov2quilt@gmail.com by August 10th if possible.

Show & Tell
Just  a sneak peak at some of the quilts in the Doors Challenge. Come to the show to see more and to see the wonderful details!  Quilts are inspired by actual doors and by music by The Doors.

Program
Ginger gave an excellent program about several apps that can be used to enhance our photos and make them ready to use in making art-quilts.  Examples were shown using PicsArt Photo Editor and Befunky.  Other apps include Prisma Photo Editor, and Adobe Photoshop's Lightroom.  After playing around with your photos in various formats, you can get posters made at Walgreens or Walmart which will serve as a pattern or guide as you make your quilt.
