May 2014

Thirteen TAGY members met on May 6th and showed their creations for the monthly challenge which was "Grow".  The diverse talent of this group is evident in the photos shown.  Each small quilt is beautifully made.

Ginger attended Mancuso's Denver National Quilt Show, and shared photos of last year's Gossip Quilt Challenge on display there.  Jeannette provided the challenge description for the program book handed out at the show.

Jeanne announced that we are invited to show the "Old Trail Town" Challenge at any of Mancuso's shows, and don't have to wait until the next Denver show.  Another reminder for everyone to get labels and hanging sleeves attached and get the quilts to her at the next meeting.  They must be camera ready, as photos will be taken for submission.
We also must get artist information and a description of our art piece to Marybeth to make the "Wanted"  poster labels that will accompany the "Old Town" display.

Jeanne will contact Ray Hammond? at Old Trail Town about displaying the art quilts there.

Jane provided a definition of Textile Artists, to be typed up
and hung with the quilt display at Yellowstone Quilt Fest this September.

Next month's challenge is Fiction.
And Kathy L will provide a program on Shibori.

Program:
Pam provided a program on Notan, the
Japanese design concept involving the play
and placement of light and dark as they
are placed next to the other in art and imagery.
We all played with images, as shown below.
