Donations to Paradise CA fire victims

Several of our TAGY members have family and friends who lost their homes in the Camp Fire in Paradise, CA.

Member Rebecca True sent a note to Jan Wilbur with her first hand account:

"As a witness (and blessedly not a victim), I can give you some confirmation that ANY contributions will help.
"I am here in Chico helping my Mom. Everyone around me is post-trauma. I have not met a single person who has not been somehow affected. I talked to the PG&E man who came to check my mom's gas lines. When I thanked him, he said that he is "just happy to be helping people who are alive." He has spent the last 2 weeks accompanying search and rescue workers with cadaver dogs. Plus he has 2 families living with him that have lost everything--cars, homes, identification, history, cell phones, mailboxes, contact phone numbers, proof of insurance, medical records, pets.....and loved ones.
"People are spending hours each day trying to reconstruct their lives. They are walking around like zombies, desperately trying to find some normalcy. I can tell you too, that the scope of human compassion has been just as impressive. From utility workers to grocery clerks to Mailmen to hairdressers to doctors to dental hygienists.....everyone says that their clients/customers are trying to incorporate any "normal" that they can to get "grounded" and reduce stress and feel sane.
We all know how therapeutic and important access to sewing, quilting and crafts are to a sense of well-being under NORMAL circumstances.  Amplify that 1000 times for these folks.

"Anything you can give to be a part of that human-to-human compassion will be received with joy beyond your imagination. Because the devastation is beyond anything you can imagine. But the "hands on" comfort is also making an enormous difference--- beyond imagination. Thank you for any prayers and gifts you send this way." Rebecca

Our TAGY group responded:
We have 102 lbs. of quilting, knitting, sewing, crafting & personal items heading to California!  The two smaller boxes contain quilting & crafting books.  The three larger ones are filled to the brim with needlework kits, fabric, patterns, thread, embroidery floss, rulers, yarn, knitting needles, more thread, rotary cutters, more needlework kits, pins, needles, more yarn, more thread, pin cushions, hand made notecards with postage stamps, more thread, hand lotion & chapstick, more yarn and on & on!
Everyone was so generous & every single item you donated has been packed ready to make someone’s day a little more peaceful, if even for just a few hours.  Your contributions toward postage are also very much appreciated!

Thank you all so much!  Have a merry Christmas & the best New Year ever!!
Jan Wilbur
