May 1, 2023

SIXTEEN beautiful creators of beautiful art attended the Textile Artists of Greater Yellowstone meeting on May 1, 2023.  It was held in the Grizzly Room at the Park County Library in Cody.  In attendance:  Jeanne, Pam, Ben, Judy, Lili, Ellen, Marybeth, Rusty, Jan H., Alice, Margie, Sue B., Barb M., Carol, Jan W., Sue S.

Announcements:

Jeannette Brewster:  A card was passed around to sign for our fellow artist, Jeanette Brewster.  Her surgery is scheduled for May 10th.

Annual Challenge Quilt is due at July meeting.  The theme is Pair/Pare/Pear.  100- inch perimeter is the maximum size.  There is no minimum.  Irregular shapes are encouraged.

Pardners Cafe Donations:  TAGY received a thank you letter for our donation to Pardners Cafe.  Our TAGY name will appear on the coffee/tea sponsor board the weeks of Sept. 11 and Oct. 3.  We also received a copy of their annual report.

Show and Tell:

Pam showed her annual challenge Pair Quilt.  She cut up quilts and also used Mylar balloons from the Mylar challenge.

Pam also had Mother's Day greeting cards that she made. Pretty stitch work!

Judy showed the cards that she had made with Mylar balloons.

And Judy showed off her circular weaving. So pretty!

Ben shows her hot pad made from a previously shared pattern.

And Ben's Mylar card.

Ellen shows swatches from the top and sweater she is knitting.  She is a top notch knitter!

The top?

The sweater?

Margie (Sue B's guest) shows her octopus quilt.  Darling!

And Margie's collage quilt from a recent Leslie McNeil class. Pretty.  And lots of fussy cutting paid off!

Sue B. shows tote bags made from panels for her upcoming sisters weekend.

Ben admires Sue's work!

Sue B also made a hot pad using the Mylar balloon. Mylar has a melting point of 500 degrees, or so I read...didn't test it! Sue will!😬

Sue S. shows her collage quilt from the recent Leslie McNeil class. (I'm a tad jealous of her free-motion quilting! 😏)

And Sue S's geometric quilt!

Jeanne shows junk journals, one of which she uses as a guest book. Great idea!💡

Lost and Found:  Jeanne also shared some lovely notes that she found in the snow in Crandall.  She is hoping to locate the owner.  They appear to be notes of encouragement to Annika from her mother.  There were dozens of notes.

Jan Hoar showed her crocheted Sunflower pillow.

And Jan H's Mylar greeting cards.
And Jan H's unfinished collage quilt from the Leslie McNeil class

And Jan W's collage greeting card.

Jan W's Balloon Card made from...Mylar balloons! Clever!

The Program:  Judy provided a program on making our own little design boards using foam board and batting and binding.  These will come in handy!
