NOTE: Special thanks to Alice and Judy for taking notes and photos while I was away! More photos will be added to this!
Members attending: Jan W, Pam H, Alice F, Judy M, Kim L, Sue B, Sue S, Cyndy T, Colleen H, Barbara P, Jeanne K, Carol S, Ginger D.
Announcements:
Map Quilts will be hung at 1st Bank of Powell on
Tuesday, November 4. Bring your Map
Quilt to the TAGY meeting on November 3rd or make arrangements to
have it delivered to the meeting.
Please email your Artist Statement to Jan W. at jancwn@tritel.net
by October 20th.
Hanging sleeves are optional. It was decided to NOT include the Mini Me’s
with this exhibit as we felt that would be too distracting with the Map Quilts.
The Map Quilts will be hung at the Cody Library in January
2026.
The Plaza Diane Fiber Show in Powell will be closing on
October 18th. Remember to
make arrangements to pick up your art piece.
Check their hours before you go.
Monthly Challenge: We did not have the paper bags to draw for the Monthly
Challenge. The members present decided
to “Do Your Own Challenge” in the future as you are inspired. It was suggested you could document a
challenge you have faced. It might be a
serious issue or a humorous one! And
it’s always good to challenge yourself to try a new technique on a small scale.
The theme for the Christmas Gift Exchange will be
“Container”. As a reminder, the Potluck
Party is held in January. The gift
should be something you have made, not purchased. The Gift Exchange is optional…if you bring a
gift, you will receive a gift!
November Program: Ginger D. will present the November program on Dyeing
Fabrics with Natural Materials.
The 2026 Challenge theme will be Haiku. A Haiku traditionally is a Japanese poem of
17 syllables consisting of 3 lines of 5
– 7 – 5 syllables. It was recommended to
write your own Haiku. There are many
examples of Haiku on the Internet. And
as always – the rules for TAGY are “relaxed”!
Have fun with it!
Show and Tell
Cyndy T. made a beautiful, bright quilt for the Linus
Project. These donation quilts (and
knitted or crocheted blankets) go to
children and young people in Park County undergoing various life crises. Karista at Wyoming Yarn and Fiber is the
Coordinator. Please note all items need
to be washable. Ginger mentioned
donations of acrylic yarn are gladly
taken at Wyoming Yarn as well as finished projects.
Congratulations to Pam Harris for another wonderful Art
Quilt in the Fall 2025 issue of Quilting Arts.
Pam showed the new 2026 Calendar made by her art quilt group
in Anchorage. The theme was Windows.
A letter from Pardners Café was passed around thanking TAGY
and the Meeteetse quilt group for their donations towards purchasing a chair in
memory of Ellen Burkhart.
Pam W. has raffle tickets available for the Lions Club
Turkey Day.
Ginger D. showed an awesome Famore Rotary Cutter with ball
bearings, available at Friends. She said
very little pressure is required when cutting.
And the blades can be sent in for resharpening.
Ginger D. showed her remade Windows and Cats quilt in
bright, Halloween colors. Very creative!
And a sweet Baby Quilt in grays, yellows and aquas.
Ginger’s Map quilt is based on an early Lewis and Clark map
– complete with their “errors”.
Alice showed her Map Quilt of the town of Cody.
Jeanne showed her Map Quilt of her hiking trails near her
home in the mountains.
Program: Fabric
Stabilizers and Interfacing presented by Jan W. and Pam H. Thank you for an informative program with a
great handout for future use. Jan and
Pam explained various creative uses perfect for Art Quilts and brought many
samples and experiments to inspire us. Thank you!
